Record container material, closure, headspace, light exposure, temperature range, humidity, and location. Headspace (the air volume above the oil in a partly filled container) and closure integrity matter because oxygen and moisture can change an oil over time.

Lot and opening records

Record the lot or batch, received date, opening date, and the person responsible. A storage record links a specific bottle to its history, and the opening date is the trigger for supplier-recommended shelf-life and recheck intervals.

Observable-change checks
