Formulation calculator
Calculate ingredient masses from a final batch mass and the percentages you choose. Every percentage is a share of the finished batch by mass.
This calculator supplies arithmetic only. It does not select a formula or establish safety, suitability, stability, preservation, or regulatory compliance. Check the exact ingredient documents and finished product with qualified reviewers. For fragrance limits, use the IFRA formula worksheet.
Calculate a batch
Enter a positive final batch mass in grams and an ingredient name and percentage for each row. Percentages must total exactly 100. Use the same mass basis for every ingredient; do not substitute drops or volume.
Your entries stay in this browser page and are not saved by this calculator. Clear them with the Clear button; a browser may restore a page when you return to it. Printing uses your browser’s print function.
Calculate a constituent in a premix
Enter the final batch mass, the premix percentage of that batch, and the constituent percentage within the premix. All percentages are by mass. This calculates the contribution from this premix only; add any contribution from other ingredients separately.
Normalize ingredient shares
Enter ingredient names and nonnegative shares in any consistent units. The calculator converts each share into a percentage of the total. Percentages are rounded to six decimal places and may not add to exactly 100% after rounding.
Compare two formulas
Enter one final batch mass and ingredient percentages for formulas A and B. Each column must total exactly 100% by mass. Enter zero where an ingredient is absent.
Keep with your batch record
Record ingredient identities, suppliers, lots, the chosen percentages, scale resolution, process, intended use, and relevant source documents. The displayed masses may need rounding for your scale; reconcile rounding in the batch record.
